Detailed itinerary for 8 Days Uganda primates, wildlife and Jinja Rafting Safari.
Day 1: Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park
Depending on your location in Kampala on the first day of the 8 days Uganda chimpanzee, wildlife and Jinja Safari, our driver guide will pick you up from the hotel, brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale forest national park. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours’ drive and on the way you will have en-route lunch in Fort Portal where after you will continue the journey to the park with stunning views of the beautiful scenery, Rwenzori mountain ranges, Lake George, crater lakes, tea plantations among others. Upon arrival in Kibale national park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your designated lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After an early breakfast on the fifth day of the 8 days Uganda chimpanzee, wildlife and Jinja Safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyanchu visitors Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will start trekking in the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzee family. During the trekking you will be able to view other primate species like red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, grey checked baboon, view different bird species, tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their behaviors, habits, watch them feed, breastfeed, hunt, play, fight, mate, rest, take photos and record the moments to show people back home after the safari.
After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and start the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park with en-route lunch on the way. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive/Lion Tracking Experience and Afternoon Boat Cruise
After an early breakfast on the second day of the safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive or lion tracking experience which is commonly done in Kasenyi plains. During the game drive you will be able to view animals like elephants, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, giant forest hogs, bird species among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will go for an amazing boat cruise on Kazinga channel where you will be able to cruise near large concentration of hippos and crocodiles in water, view elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs along the shores, bird species, view fishermen preparing their fishing gears among others. After the boat cruise you will drive back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 4: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park- Afternoon Boat Cruise
After having your breakfast, you will meet up with your driver guide and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, arriving in time to have lunch at your lodge. After lunch, you will head out for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo where you will view a number of bird species around the lake area including the Malachite Kingfisher, Bare-faced go-away Bird, Papyrus Gonolek and the African Wattled Lapwing among others. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kampala
After an early breakfast on the last day of the 2 days Lake Mburo wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to view different animals like giraffes, zebras, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs, oribi, topi among others grazing in the open savannah plains, view the beautiful sunrise, different bird species among others.
After the game drive you will drive out of the park and start the journey to Kampala with en-route lunch at the Equator. After lunch you will continue the journey to Kampala where you will reach early evening and upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at your hotel.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 6: Kampala City Tour and Drive to Jinja
Depending on your location on the first day of the 2 days Jinja tour, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then embark on a short tour of Kampala City where you will visit the Kasubi Tombs, and Gadhafi Mosque. You can visit the craft village if you still have time.
You will have lunch and then proceed on about a 2 hour’s drive to Jinja where you will visit the source of the Nile upon arrival. Enjoy a boat ride on a local boat which takes about 1 to 2 hours and offers you great views of bird species such as the king fisher’s, cormorants, fish eagles, reptiles like the monitor lizards and Nile crocodiles along the shores, have beautiful views of the sundowner among others. After the boat ride you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your hotel/resort.
Day 7: White water rafting and Sunset Boat Cruise

After breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for an adventurous white water rafting activity. White water rafting is done according to grades ranging from grade 1 to grade 5 by the use of small paddle rafts with air and a trained guide who will ask you if you want to proceed to the next grade at the end of each grade which gives you unforgettable memories on your safari.
Sunset Boat Cruise with a sundowner
After white water rafting, you will have lunch and relax for a while. You will later head out for a sunset boat cruise on Lake Victoria where you will enjoy watching the sunset while sipping a cold drink as you relax and unwind. After the boat cruise, you will drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight or go for an optional nightlife tour of Jinja city.
Day 8: Visit Source of the Nile and Transfer Back to Kampala
Wake up in time to have a relaxed breakfast meal at the hotel. You will then meet up with your driver guide and embark on a return journey to Kampala with a stopover at the Source of the Nile in case you didn’t visit the site on your first day in Jinja. Alternatively, you can choose to do an optional quad bike safari which is allows you 2-3 hours of fun-filled adventure as you ride through the local communities and villages with the highlight being the view of the Nile at the climax of your quad biking adventure.
You will have lunch enroute to Kampala, arriving in the afternoon. Your driver guide will drop you off at a hotel of your choice or Entebbe international airport as you will advise.
