Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days Uganda Safari from Kigali.
Day 1: Pickup from Kigali and Transfer to Kibale National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali after having your breakfast. You will then embark on your drive to Kibale National Park crossing the Uganda-Rwanda border at Katuna; with a stopover for lunch enroute. Arrive at your lodge in the evening, check and have dinner. Overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trek and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast you will go for chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. This is place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees. After tracking, have lunch and relax for a while. Later transfer to Queen Elizabeth national Park arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise
An early morning a game drive in the Kasenyi sector, you may spot various animals like the elephants, Uganda Kobs, leopards among others. Return to the lodge for late breakfast, in the afternoon you will go for a launch cruise where you will spot various water animals like Hippos and crocodiles, the cruise will also enrich you with various water birds. After, return to the lodge, for dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.
Day 4: Full Day Game Drive
Following breakfast at your lodge, you will head out for a full day game drive in the park. Get a chance to search for any wildlife animals that you might not have seen in your previous game drive. Look out for lions, leopards, elephants, antelopes and many others. You will have lunch and dinner at your lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi NP and Batwa Cultural Tour
Have breakfast, meet your driver and proceed to southwards to the Ishasha sector of the park which is a home for tree climbing lions. Towards your destination, you will have a pleasant view of the Uganda kob, elephants and some birds of riverine and savanna habitats. you will drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park (home of the Uganda Mountain Gorillas).
Upon your arrival in Bwindi, check into your lodge and have lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will head out for a cultural tour to see the famous Batwa people living near the national park. Learn more about their interesting culture as you interact with the friendly locals and watch traditional dance performances from the locals.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 6: Gorilla Trek in Bwindi
You are warming up for the gorilla tracking. You will drive further south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is of Uganda´s oldest and most diverse rainforests. The “impenetrable” forest is also home to more than 320 mountain gorillas, 400 species of plants, 120 species of mammals and over 350 species of birds.
Certainly one of the most exciting days of your safari; today you will be gorilla tracking. Breakfast will be served early and lunch will be packed. The briefing is at 8 am. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anything from one to seven hours. Once you reach the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour with them as you stand 6 meters away. Dinner and overnight at as above
Day 7: Transfer Back to Kigali
Have a relaxed breakfast meal at your lodge. You will then meet up with your guide and embark on a 3 hours’ drive to Kigali city, arriving in time for lunch at a restaurant in Kigali City. You can later go for a city tour where you will visit places like the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Inema Arts Gallery, Caplaki Craft Village, and Kimironko market to mention but a few. Your driver guide will later drop you off at a hotel of your choice or Kigali International Airport.
