Day 1: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Afternoon Batwa Cultural Tour.
Given your location on the first day of the three-day Uganda fly-in gorilla habituation safari, our driving guide will collect you up from the hotel, brief you on the safari, and then bring you to Entebbe International Airport for your domestic flight to Kisoro airstrips. Domestic flights to Kisoro airstrip depart Entebbe airport at around 7:05 a.m. and arrive at 8:30 a.m. Upon arriving at Kisoro airstrip, your driver guide will meet you and transport you to the resort for lunch and leisure.
Following lunch, you will head out for a cultural excursion to meet the Batwa who reside in the surrounding hamlet. During the Batwa cultural tour, you will learn about their way of life, how they lived in the forest before it was designated as a national park, visit their homesteads and farmlands, learn how to cook their local dishes, listen to ancient stories, and enjoy their traditional songs and dances, among other things. Following the cultural trip, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge in Bwindi National Park.
Day 2: Gorilla Habituation in Bwindi Forest
On the second day of the three-day Uganda fly-in gorilla habituation safari, after an early breakfast, you will bring a packed lunch from the lodge and meet your driver guide at the park headquarters for a gorilla habituation briefing. Following the briefing, you will begin walking into the bush in search of a gorilla family. The gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lasts a full day, and while trekking, you will see other wildlife species such as chimps, l’Hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, a variety of bird species, and various plant and tree species.
After the mountain gorillas are located, you will be able to spend four hours with them in their natural habitat, learning and monitoring their behaviors, watching them feed, play, breastfeed, groom young ones, participating in the naming process, and taking photos to show people back home after the safari. After your hike, you will return to the park headquarters, where you will be issued a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking, and then meet with your driver guide to be sent back to the lodge for an evening of leisure, supper, and sleep, as described above.
Day 3: Departure Flight to Entebbe
Following breakfast on the final day of your three-day Uganda fly-in gorilla habituation safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide to drive to Kisoro airstrips for your return flight to Entebbe, which departs Kisoro airstrip at 8:45 a.m. and arrives at Entebbe airport at 11:25 am.
