Detailed Itinerary for 19 Days Uganda & Kenya Safari, Gorilla Trekking, Wildlife & Culture
Day 1; Arrival & Hotel Transfer.
On arrival, you will be met by our company representative at Entebbe airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending on your time of arrival, you can do an optional tour to Entebbe Zoo or visit any of the beaches in the area. Dinner and overnight stay at designated hotel.
Day 2; Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. (5 Hours)
You will enjoy an early breakfast and start on the long drive to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking and lunch in Masindi town. Proceed to Murchison falls arriving in the afternoon.
This is the largest park in Uganda, covering almost 4000 km2, and is one of the most spectacular parks in all of Africa. There are the incredible falls from which the park takes its name, rugged savannah, dense woodland and spectacular wildlife. Check in to your hotel, relax, have dinner and overnight stay at your designated lodge.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise
A full day of game viewing at Murchison; begin with a morning game drive, on the lookout for elephant, buffalo, giraffe, antelope, lion, leopard and jackal. If luck is really on our side, we may encounter one of Murchison’s few cheetahs.
In the afternoon, you will take a boat trip to the base of the 43m high falls. This is also a good opportunity to spot a few of Murchison’s 460 bird species including the shoebill stork and goliath heron. You will also see one of Africa’s densest hippo and crocodile populations. Dinner and overnight at as above.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park (6-7 hours’ drive)
You will have breakfast and then drive to Kibale. En-route, you will visit the Amabere G’anyinamwiru stalagmites and waterfalls site in Fort Portal and the crater lakes. Have lunch and proceed to Kibale arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth (Approximately 2-3 hours)
Take early morning breakfast and go for briefing and start chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale’s 795km2 National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. This is place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees.
After trekking you will have lunch and later an optional visit to Bigodi wetland where you will experience a lot of bird life and unspoiled nature! Later transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Enjoy breakfast and go for morning game drive through Kasenyi area where you will encounter African elephants, herds of buffaloes, eland, bushbuck topis, and warthogs among others. Visit Katwe salt pans and witness salt mining in Uganda and return to your hotel for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise down the Kazinga Channel for some more incredible game viewing. You will see countless hippos, buffalos and a vast array of birds, perhaps including the African Fish Eagle and shoebill stork. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight at as above.
Day 7: Morning Game Drive and transfer to Bwindi National Park (Approximately 4 Hours)
You will have a morning game drive in the park where you stand a chance of seeing wildlife animals that you had earlier missed seeing in your previous game drives, if you are lucky you might spot more lions and the elusive leopard. Then say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth and head down to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park arriving in the afternoon. Check in, unwind, dinner and overnight at lodge.
Day 8: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After an early morning breakfast, you will depart with your packed lunch and proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and take to the forest for gorilla trekking! Your child can spend that time at the hotel or in the company of guide as they visit around. Gorilla Trekking can take an hour or four depending on the movement of the gorillas.
The time remaining after visiting the gorillas can either be spent relaxing and remembering the trek or hiking in the foothills and visiting local communities. Dinner and overnight as above
Day 9: Batwa Community Tour
Have a relaxed breakfast meal at your lodge. You will later meet up with your guide and drive to the local Batwa (Pygmy) communities that are outside the park where you will get to interact with the friendly Batwa people as well as be entertained to their traditional dance and singing performances. Learn more about their interesting and intriguing culture as you take a tour of their homesteads and take a peek inside their day-to-day lifestyles. Later return to your lodge for lunch and spend the rest of your evening relaxing at your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 10; Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park (Approximately 8 Hours’ drive)
After breakfast, embark on your journey to Lake Mburo national park arriving late afternoon. Rest for the evening and enjoy dinner. You will then embark on the night game drive that promises sights of the hyena and leopard. Stay overnight at lodge.
Day 11; Walking Safari & Transfer to Entebbe. (About a 6 hours’ drive)
Have breakfast and go for a guided walking safari where you will see animals at a close range with a ranger guide. Later exit the park and transfer back to Entebbe with lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 12; Afternoon Flight to Masai Mara-Kenya
Have breakfast in the morning and later drive to Entebbe International Airport where you will board an afternoon flight to Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Your afternoon flight is scheduled for 12:00pm and will land in Masai Mara at 2:30pm. You will find your driver/guide waiting for you at Mara Airstrip and drive you to your lodge for lunch. Spend the rest of your evening relaxing at your lodge with an optional evening game drive in Mara. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 13: Full Day Game Drive in Masai Mara
Early breakfast followed by a full day of game drive within the reserve.
Masai Mara is renowned for its high animal concentration and abundance. Black-manned lions, elephants and buffalo can be seen (3 out of the big 5) though luck is essential for spotting leopard and rhino, which make the other two.
The reserve is essentially the northern extension of Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and is home to numerous plains game including wildebeest, common zebra and the Masai giraffe as well as antelopes like Thompson’s gazelle, hartebeest, impala and dik dik among others. You will have a break for your picnic lunch at the hippo pool where hippos are in view and with luck, crocodiles. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Early breakfast followed by a full day of game drive within the reserve.
Day 14: Visit Masai Village and Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park (About 4 hours’ drive)
Have breakfast in the morning and head out for a community tour to the Masai Village on your way out of Masai Mara. Enjoy spending time with the local Masai people as you visit the Masai Bomas (homesteads) and dance to traditional Masai folk songs. Later have lunch and drive to Lake Nakuru national park. Arrive in the evening and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 15: Morning Game and Afternoon Nature Walk
This morning we enjoy a game drive in Nakuru national park. The park is famous for its millions of seasonal pink flamingos and other aquatic birds. Game drive until lunch around the lake, where rhinos, zebra, gazelle, buffalo, leopard, and waterbuck can easily and closely be spotted an excellent chance of spotting rhino, of which there is a healthy population here. There is a stunning view from the top of the hills above the lake, and here we may see the Rock hyrax; this tiny creature is the elephant’s nearest relative! Later head back to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will head out for a guided afternoon nature walk in the park. Take a guided walk along the shores of Lake Nakuru where there are large populations of flamingos. You will also get a close view of other wildlife like buffaloes, rhino, giraffes and baboons to mention but a few. Dinner and overnight stay same as above.
Day 16: Drive to Nairobi and City Tour (Approximately 4 hours’ drive)
Wake up in the morning and have breakfast before embarking on your drive to Nairobi city. Arrive in time for lunch at your hotel in Nairobi and later you can head out for an optional tour of Nairobi city where you can visit other places such as; giraffe centre, Nairobi national museum and Snake Park among others. Dinner and overnight stay at your designated hotel.
Day 17: Drive to Amboseli National Park (Approximately 5 hours’ drive)
On Day 17 of your 19 Days Uganda and Kenya Safari, wake up in the morning and have your breakfast. You will find your driver guide waiting for you at the lounge area of your hotel where you will then proceed with your drive to Amboseli national park which is one of Kenya’s most popular national parks. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. Amboseli national park consists of great scenery that is created by the backdrop of Mountain Kilimanjaro. Later in the evening you will embark on an evening game drive in the national park where you will search for a variety of wildlife animals such as African elephant, African buffalo, impalas, lion, zebra, and wildebeest among others. Dinner and overnight stay at your designated lodge.
Day 18: Full Day Game Drive with an Optional Hot Air Balloon Tour
Enjoy breakfast at your lodge before you head out for a full day game drive in Amboseli national park. Watch out for the African buffalo, impalas, elephants, zebras as well as bird species such as Dickinson’s kestrel, Long-toed lapwing, Spike-heeled lark and the Lesser flamingo among others. If you wish, you can also do an optional hot air balloon tour where you will get to explore the park from above as you get a bird’s eye view of the park. (Please let us know in advance if you wish to add this activity to your itinerary). Dinner and overnight stay at lodge.

Day 19: Drive Back to Nairobi (About 5 hours’ drive) and Departure
Wake up at leisure and have breakfast at your lodge. You will then checkout of your lodge in time and embark on a 5 hours’ drive back to Nairobi with lunch enroute. Your driver/guide will drop you off at a hotel of your choice in Nairobi or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in case you have an evening flight to board back home.
