Uganda Increase Gorilla Permit Fees 2024-2026: With effect from 1st July 2024 to 30th June 2026, Uganda gorilla permits will be increased to $800 per person from the original $700. The changes have been made by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, a government organization that is in charge of managing all the national parks and game reserves in the country.
In addition to the changes, chimpanzee tracking permits have also been increased to $250 for foreign non-residents, $200 for foreign residents and 180,000 UGX for East African Community nationals. These rates will apply to clients who will be tracking chimpanzees in Kibale National Park. Kindly refer to the table below:

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is one of Uganda’s areas where half of Africa’s mountain gorillas live. Mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park have been habituated into 20 gorilla families and are distributed in four sectors: Buhoma in the park’s north, Rushaga in the south, Nkuringo in the south, and Ruhija in the east. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park also has one habituated gorilla family, the Nyakagezi family.
Both Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park feature habituated gorilla families that visitors may see during a gorilla trekking safari in Uganda. These habituated gorilla groups are tracked on a regular basis, and a maximum of eight people can climb with each habituated gorilla family.
