Choosing a Gorilla Destination to visit is a task and one needs to be equipped with enough knowledge about gorilla trekking experience in each park. Gorilla trekking is one of the most interesting tourism activities that have gained popularity which has attracted a number of tourists to take part in. In Africa, there are three leading destinations where gorilla trekking is carried out for tourists to see the endangered mountain gorillas, eastern lowland gorillas, western gorillas and the western low land gorillas that can be seen in different countries. It should be noted the price of a gorilla permit in Rwanda is 1500USD the price of a gorilla permit in Uganda is 600USD but come 1st July 2020, the price will increase to 700USD. The price of gorilla trekking in Congo is 400USD. Therefore with the different price differences, you can book your gorilla safaris in a country of your choice depending on their price variations.
Safety of the activity
Before choosing a different destination to carry out gorilla trekking, you should put into consideration the safety of the activity in order to avoid accidents during your trip to the park. In the different gorilla destinations that is Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, Congo’s Virunga national park and Uganda’s Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park the gorilla trekking activities are very safe for a tourist to participate.
It should be noted that before tourists participate in the activity, they are first briefed on the activity, the do’s and don’ts during their encounters with the gorillas and after the briefing, they are ready to take part in the activity however they are accompanied by a skilled guide who will lead their way in the gorilla trekking activity and ensure that they are well guided through their trip. The gorilla trekking group will be protected by an armed park ranger who will also ensure that you are not attacked by any wild animals during your gorilla trekking activity.
Safety of the Park
Before choosing a gorilla destination, you should consider the safety of the country before heading to the country to carry out gorilla trekking. You should choose a war-free country to avoid any accidents during your gorilla safaris in different countries. It should be noted that Uganda is a very safe country which has encouraged many tourists to come and participate in gorilla trekking in Rwanda and also the safety of Rwanda has ensured that tourists have safe primate safaris in volcanoes national park and for Congo, all the country is known for being a war zone.
However, there are some areas are not which include Virunga National park and Kahuzi Biega National Park where gorilla trekking of different gorilla trekking species in Congo can be carried out. It should be noted that the different parks are highly protected to ensure that no tourist is under threat and the fact that both parks are open, it is a guarantee that they are safe for travel to take place.
The ease of the Gorilla Trekking
When choosing gorilla destinations, you should also consider the ease of carrying out gorilla trekking in the different gorilla destinations before choosing a particular country where you will carry out gorilla trekking. While accessing the Rwanda gorilla families, tourists first have to hike Mount Sabyinyo, Mount Gahinga, Mount Muhabura, Mount Karisimbi, and Mount Bisoke the same applies to Mgahinga national park where you will have to hike the virunga mountains as well in order to access the different Uganda gorilla families. In Virunga National Park, you will hike mount Mikeno and in Kahuzi Biega you will hike through the forests in order to access the eastern lowland gorillas in the park.
In Bwindi impenetrable national park, you will have to hike the forest to get to the gorilla families. Therefore before you choose a destination you should consider how easy it is to access the different gorilla families. Whether you are fit to climb a mountain which is 4507m or hike through a forest to get to the different gorilla families.
Chances of taking part in the gorilla trekking activity
While choosing the gorilla destination in the country, you should consider the chances of participating in gorilla trekking. Gorilla trekking has gained popularity worldwide which has attracted very many people to come to Africa in order to carry out the activity which has introduced competition on the gorilla trekking permits because of the high numbers of people that participate in the activity.
In Uganda, gorilla trekking can be carried out in Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi impenetrable national park which gives you higher chances of participating in the activities, in Rwanda there are about 18 habituated gorilla families which will give an opportunity to around people to take part in the activity. In the democratic republic of Congo, virunga national park carries out its activities on a first come first save basis which implies that if you are interested in participating in the activity you should book in advance because the park sells its activities in packages.
