Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Volcanoes and Lake Kivu Tour.

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and Transfer to Ruhengeri- Volcanoes National Park

You will be met by our guide who will pick you up from your hotel or Kigali international Airport and transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Arrive at your lodge in time to check-in and have dinner and overnight stay at your selected lodge.

 Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Afternoon Iby’iwacu Village Tour

Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the RDB officials, set off for the gorilla trekking. This experience of gorilla trekking is a once in a life time adventure. The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search of the Gorillas.

You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures whose company you will cherish for 1 hour. The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. In the afternoon you will head out for a cultural tour to Iby’iwacu village for a cultural experience with a resident local guide. Visit the King’s palace and learn more about the Rwandan culture through dance and singing performances from the local intore dance troupe. Return for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

 Day 3: Visit Musanze Bat Cave and Transfer to Lake Kivu- Gisenyi for Sunset Boat Cruise

After having your breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and meet up with your driver guide. You will drive to Musanze caves where you will take a tour of the caves. These caves are among the oldest cave networks in Rwanda and hold are of great cultural and historical importance to the local people. The caves are also home to numerous bats which you will see during your tour.

Later drive to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi where you will first check into your hotel/lodge and have lunch. After you have had lunch and rested, you will head out for a sunset boat cruise on the lake; with an opportunity to search for bird species around the lake area, and also interact with the famous singing fishermen of the lake as you watch them fishing on the lake.

Dinner and overnight stay at your selected hotel/resort.

Day 4: Optional Coffee Tour and Transfer Back to Kigali-Visit Genocide Memorial Centre

Wake up in time to have breakfast at your hotel. Today you will be setting off for Kigali; however, you can do an optional coffee tour at Kinunu washing station where you will be taken through a tour of how coffee in Rwanda is grown, harvested, and processed for final consumption by the international and local markets. Finish your tour with a tasty cup of coffee and you can also purchase some as a show of support to the local community.

After your tour, you will have lunch and then proceed with your drive back to Kigali where upon your arrival, you will visit Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre.

Check-in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 5: Airport Drop-off

Have breakfast at your hotel and check-out in time. You will be dropped off at Kigali international Airport in time to check-in and board your flight to your next destination. End of Tour!
