Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Bwindi Gorilla Trek and Rwanda Safari from Kigali.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
Pickup from your hotel in Kigali, meet your safari guide and embark on your drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will embark on a short tour of Kigali city where you will be visiting the Genocide Memorial Center and Kimironko Market. Have lunch and proceed to Bwindi arriving in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla habituation experience- ick up and Tional park – Kisoroindi and Rwanda Gorilla Trek Safari.

Enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for briefing by the ranger guides and later head into the forest for your trek. Gorilla habituation in Bwindi involves visiting a semi-habituated gorilla family that is under the process of habituation. This activity takes a whole day and you are granted 4 hours to stay with the gorillas. After the habituation experience, meet your guide and drive back to your lodge to rest. Dinner and overnight at same lodge as above
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes national park (Rwanda) – Ibyi’wacu village tour
After breakfast, you will drive to Kisoro to across the Uganda –Rwanda- Cyanika Border to connect to Volcanoes national park, which is about 3-4 hours’ drive. Upon arrival, visit the Ibyi’wacu village for a cultural tour before you check-in at your booked lodge for dinner and overnight.
Other optional activities to do on this day include; visiting Musanze caves, birding in Buhanga Eco park or a guided nature walk/ hiking tour in the park.
Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking
After breakfast, drive to the park head offices and then have a briefing about the golden monkeys and thereafter enter into the park taking the golden monkey tracking trail and on this experience other primates, birds, butterflies will be spotted.
Your search for golden monkeys can take anywhere between 1-3 hours or more depending on the location of the golden monkeys. You will be given an hour to spend with the golden monkeys once you have located them. After spending time with the golden monkeys have lunch at your lodge and spend the rest of your evening relaxing. Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 5: Bisoke Hike and drop off Kigali
After having your breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and grab your packed lunch pack prepared by your lodge. You will drive to the briefing point for your briefing. You will begin your ascent to the mountain summit and this may take between 3-4 hours depending on your hiking pace. Once you get to the summit, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the park and other mountains in the Virunga Massif including Mount Karisimbi, Mount Nyiragongo (on a clear day), Mount Sabyinyo and Mount Muhabura among others. Have your packed lunch and after embark on your journey back to Kigali to either your hotel or airport for your return flight with memories of your safari.
