Detailed Itinerary for 12 Days Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda Safari.
Day 1: Drive to Masai Mara national reserve, Game Drive
When you arrive in Nairobi, your safari guide will pick you up from your hotel or the airport, give you a briefing on the safari, and then take you to Masai Mara National Reserve, which is home to the big five: elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalos. Following lunch, you will go on an afternoon game drive throughout Masai Mara National Reserve, where you will explore the savannah plains in search of numerous animal and bird species.
After your wildlife drive, your guide will take you to your lodge for supper and overnight stay at a lodge of your choice.
Day 2-3: Full day in Masai Mara National Reserve
You will get up early at your lodge to prepare for a morning game drive across Masai Mara National Reserve, where you will seek for animal species such as elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, gazelles, waterbucks, and impalas.
After your morning game drive, you will go on another game drive across Masai Mara National Reserve to look for other animal species. You will be taken back to your lodge for supper and sleep, as described above.
Day 4: Maasai Cultural Experience and fly to Entebbe International Airport – Uganda
Following breakfast at your lodge, check out of the lodge in Masai Mara National Reserve and proceed to the Masai Village for a Masai cultural experience, where you may learn and engage with the people. After that, you’ll be transported to Nairobi, stopping for lunch along the way.
You will be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport to catch your trip to Uganda. Our guide will greet you upon arrival and bring you to your accommodation in Entebbe.
Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will be picked up by your guide and taken to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. During this picturesque 8-hour ride, you will make many breaks to stretch and participate in an Equator water experiment.
Though the trip is long, it is fairly picturesque, with some truly breathtaking vistas of landscapes with vast plantations. Once at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will check in at the lodge and spend the remainder of the evening resting and getting to know your surroundings. Dinner and overnight at your selected lodge.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Optional Batwa Pygmy Cultural Tour
You will wake up early to have a delicious breakfast before being transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing session and then gorilla family allocation in groups of eight. After that, you’ll go gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a park ranger and guides.
When you’ve located the gorillas, you’ll spend an hour with them, watching their personalities, habits, and activities that are so humanlike. Take as many images as you want, shoot films, and take time to simply enjoy the moments without the glasses.
After that, you will walk back and return to the resort. You may spend the remainder of the day relaxing at the lodge or participate in a Batwa pygmy cultural experience to learn about the park’s past occupants. Dinner and overnight stay as described above.
Day 7: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Have breakfast at your lodge and meet your driver guide. You will embark on a transfer to Volcanoes national park in Rwanda, arriving in time to have lunch at your lodge. If you wish to explore more, you can do an optional visit to Musanze caves or afternoon birding tour. Dinner and overnight stay at your selected lodge.
Day 8: Golden Monkey Trek and Visit Ibyi’wacu Village
Wake up early and have breakfast at your lodge. You will then drive to the park’s briefing point. After your briefing, you will be placed in trekking groups and then head into the forest in search for golden monkey families. Golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes national park takes between 1-4 hours and you will be given an hour to spend with these playful primates. You will then head back to base and drive back to your lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will then head for a cultural experience at Ibyi’wacu village which is popularly known as the ‘gorilla guardians’ village.’ Learn more about the unique Rwandan culture and mingle with the friendly locals. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Kivu- Coffee Tour and Evening Boat Cruise
On the 9th day of your 12 Days Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda Safari , After having breakfast at your lodge, drive to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi where you will head for a coffee tour and get to learn more about how coffee in Rwanda is made. This experience will be concluded with a cup of coffee and a boat cruise on Lake Kivu.
Later have dinner and overnight stay at your selected resort.
Day 10: Transfer to Nyungwe- Visit Gisakura Tea Estate
Start your day with an early breakfast at the hotel. After checking out of your lodge, meet up with your safari guide and embark on about a 5 hours’ drive to Nyungwe forest national park; with a stopover for lunch en-route to the park. Upon your arrival in the park, you will get to visit Gisakura Tea Estate for a tea tour. Learn how tea in Rwanda is grown, harvested, processed and packaged for final exportation.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge of choice.
Day 11: Chimpanzee Trek and Canopy Walk
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are much easier to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3 hours. On finding them, spend an hour while taking pictures and videos. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk-a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Before night fall, you will return to the lodge for dinner at your lodge.
Day 12: Drive Back to Kigali
Have breakfast at leisure then embark on a 5 hours’ drive back to Kigali city with en route visit to Nyanza king’s palace and Rwanda national museum in Butare and lunch on your way to Kigali city. Connect to the airport for your return flight to your next destination.
