Park Entrance Fees for Nyungwe National Park; Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of Africa’s oldest rain forests and is rich in nature. It has a lot to offer as it has a large number of primates that is the chimpanzees, several types of monkeys and is also a great bird watching spot. This forested national park has thick vegetation but 15 trails were created to ease tourism activities and movement in the forest. One can even send over a week exploring this large rainforest. Below are the activities that one can engage and the park entrance fees for Nyungwe. The park entrance fees for nyungwe are charged differently according to nationality and age mainly. These are per day per person rates.
Guided Nature Trails. This is a day activity that goes for 40 USD for foreign non-residents, 30 USD for foreign residents, Rwandan/EAC citizens 3,000 RWF per day. For any extra day, you pay half price.
Guided Bird Walk: This activity is charged per day, 50 USD for Foreign non-residents, 40 USD for Foreign residents and Rwandan/ EAC citizens are charged 5,000 RWF.
Canopy Adventure Guided Hike goes for 60 USD per person per day for Foreign non-residents, 50 USD for Foreign residents and 5,000 RWF for the Rwandan/ EAC citizens.
Tropical Waterfall Guided Hike goes for 50 USD for Foreign non-residents, 40 USD for Foreign residents then 5,000 RWF for Rwandan/ EAC citizens.
Congo Nile Guided Hike which lasts for 3 days is charged 100 USD for Foreign non-residents, 70 USD for Foreign residents and 10,000 RWF for Rwandan/EAC citizens.
Chimpanzee Tracking with Guide per day is 90 USD for Foreign non-residents, 60 USD for foreign residents and 5,000 RWF for the Rwandan/ EAC citizens.
Other primates tracking with guide is charged at 60 USD per person for Foreign non-residents, 40 USD for foreign residents and 5,000 RWF for Rwandan/ EAC citizens.
Camping per tent site per night is 30 USD for Foreign non Residents, 20 USD for Foreign residents and 5,000 for Rwandan/ EAC citizens.
Annual passes are paid 3 times a year. The Individual Annual pass is 250 USD for Foreign residents and 16,000 RWF while the family annual pass, also paid 3 times a year is 750 USD for foreign residents and 80,000 for Rwandan/ EAC citizens.
Commercial Filming: You will be expected to pay 1,000 USD per group per day for the chimps and 600 USD per group per day for the other activities.
Things to note about these rates.
Primates tracking is only acceptable to those above 16 years.
To be considered as a foreign resident, one shall be expected to show documentation otherwise you will be categorized as a foreign non-resident and will pay their fee.
A group of 10 and above gets 30% discount on the park activities.
Children below the year of 7 do not pay for these activities.
Students are charged differently however, the graduate students are considered adults and pay the normal fee.
These visitor activity fees support conservation efforts in Rwanda and 5% of the fees are given back to community living near the park to fund their projects.
