Detailed Itinerary for 20 Days Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar Safari.
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Ibyi’wacu Cultural Experience
Drive Time: Approx. 3.5 hours
You shall be picked up from your hotel of stay in Kigali, or airport upon arrival, you will start your journey to Volcanoes national park.
Have lunch and transfer to Musanze – the nearest town to Volcanoes National Park found in the northern province of Rwanda. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking
Have a heavy breakfast and grab your packed lunches and set out to the park headquarters at 7am to get the morning brief before your trek on what to expect, the do’s and don’ts and also get a chance to book your porter and all the hiking gear you may need. Set out into the forest in search of the gorillas. Trek with the rangers for about 2 to 7 hours according to the location of the gorillas.
Once you meet these endangered animals, you will be allowed 1 hour to enjoy their presence and it is in this magical hour that you get to take photos and study the lifestyles of the mountain gorillas in their families as they go about their daily routines. Connect back to your lodge for lunch and relax for a while.
After lunch, head back to base and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trek
Breakfast will be served early and you will go for Golden monkey trekking in the park, taking about 1-4 hours depending on the location of the golden monkeys. Once you have located a golden monkey group, you will be given an hour to spend them before heading back to base. Have lunch and your lodge and spend the rest of your evening relaxing at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at your selected lodge. at your lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park and Afternoon Visit to Gisakura Tea Estate
Have breakfast early in the morning and check out of your lodge. You will then embark on a 5-6 hours’ drive to Nyungwe forest national park with a stopover for lunch en-route. Upon your arrival in the park, you will check into your lodge and then head out for a visit to Gisakura tea estate. Take a tour of the tea plantations and factory as you learn how tea in Rwanda is made and processed for final consumption both locally and internationally.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trek and Canopy Walk
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are the easy to spot, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk, a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Before night fall, you will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight at lodge same as previous night.
Day 6: Transfer Back to Kigali
This will be a more leisurely drive back to Kigali with the visits enroute that you may have missed that is the King’s palace, Butare museum and connect to Kigali for drop off. This day you may opt to include an optional city tour in Kigali if you may have some time to spare. Drop off will be at Kigali international Airport or as you will advise. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 7: Flight to Nairobi (Own Booking)
After your breakfast at the hotel and then check out. You will then drive to Kigali international airport you shall embark on a flight to Nairobi.
Upon arrival in Nairobi, you shall be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel of stay. Dinner and overnight stay at the your hotel.
Day 8: Giraffe Centre Visit, Drive to Amboseli National Park, Game Drive
Breakfast will be served before you check out of your lodge. Enjoy a visit to the Giraffe Centre on Nairobi, for a chance to come up close with the giraffes and feed them!
Thereafter, proceed on a 4 hour transfer to Amboseli national park where you will have an en route game viewing experience to see wildlife species along the way such as herds of elephants which this national park is known for having and you will also enjoy views of Mt Kilimanjaro on your way to your lodge for check in and to have your dinner and to also spend the night at your lodge.
Day 9: Full day in Amboseli national park, Walking Safari
Your full day adventure in Amboseli national park will begin with breakfast at your lodge and then your guide will drive you around the wilderness of the national park as you search for the different wildlife species such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, zebras, gazelles, kudu, giraffes, elands as well as various bird species.
You will have lunch and later you will have a guided walking safari for another wildlife viewing experience and to enjoy photography as you catch sight of the beautiful sunset with the back drop of Mt Kilimanjaro. After, enjoy yet an evening game drive as you return to your lodge for your dinner and overnight as above.
Day 10: Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, Game Drive
After an early breakfast, with a packed lunch start your journey to Lake Nakuru national park.
You will engage in a game drive around Lake Nakuru national park as you look out for wildlife species such as black and white rhinos, zebras, leopards, Rothschild giraffes, elands, waterbucks among other wildlife species as well as flamingos on the shores of Lake Nakuru. Take time to take some of the most amazing pictures here, especially of the rhinos that are abundant here. After your game drive, your dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.
Day 11: Drive to Masai Mara national reserve
You will be met by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari, after the briefing you start your drive to Narok town where you will have brief stop.
You will look out for wildlife species such as African big five like lions, leopards, Rhinos, Elephants, Buffalos and other game as you drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 12: Full Day at Masai Mara national reserve
You will have an early breakfast at your lodge ahead of your game viewing activity in the open savannah plains of the reserve. You will search for a variety of wildlife species such as the big five which include lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos and rhinos as well as other wildlife species such as such as giraffes, elephants, wildebeest, elands, zebras, topis among others.
You will enjoy your lunch after your morning game drive as you enjoy the beautiful scenery around the reserve and watch wildlife species grazing in the plains. After a picnic lunch, enjoy yet more game viewing. Later chase the sunset as you drive back to your camp. Relax as you wait for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 13: Transfer from Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park
Drive Time: Approx. 6 hours between park gates
You will have a very early breakfast and checkout from the lodge early in the morning. You will be driven out of the reserve to the border of Isebania.
You will clear from the border customs office then after your guide in Tanzania will drive you to Serengeti national park. You will have en route game drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 14: Full day in Serengeti National Park
You will have breakfast at your lodge as you prepare to engage in a morning game drive around Serengeti national park. During your morning game drive, you will search for different wildlife species like lions, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, elephants, wildebeests, antelopes, giraffes, hippos, waterbucks and many others.
You will have your lunch before another game driving experience in the national park in the afternoon.
Your guide will drive you around the national park in the central part of Serengeti national park as you look out for different attractions and wildlife species in the distant plains. You will proceed to your lodge after this experience for dinner and overnight stay as above

Day 15: Drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Olduvai Gorge Visit, Crater Rim Walk
You will have breakfast before leaving Serengeti national park and driving to your next wildlife viewing destination which is the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. With your packed lunch drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will enjoy an Ol Duvai Gorge visit for a lesson through history of mankind. Enjoy a game drive in the conservation area as you drive to your lodge for check in and an overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 16: Ngorongoro Crater Drive, Maasai Bomas Visit
After breakfast, with your packed lunch head out for full day game drive in the crater. You will descend 600 meters into the crater which is home to numerous wildlife species like the big 5 which includes lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos and elephants. Other wildlife species in Ngorongoro include hyenas, wildebeests, antelopes, cheetahs, antelopes, zebras, hippos, waterbucks, warthogs among others.
There are also different bird species which can be spotted around Ngorongoro crater like ostriches as well as flamingos common along the shores of Lake Magadi. After your game drive around the Ngorongoro crater, you will enjoy a Maasai Bomas visit to interact with the locals, and then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 17: Drive to Arusha and Flight to Zanzibar
You will have breakfast at the lodge and proceed to transfer to Arusha and drop you off and proceed to catch a flight to Zanzibar.
You will be picked up from the airport and driven to your hotel for check in. Relax at the hotel as you wait for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 18: Prison Island, Spice Tour and Stone Town
You will have breakfast at your hotel and after this you will start your day’s activities.
You shall have a Stone town tour and explore the alleyways of the town as you get to know about the history of Zanzibar and its different cultures. You will take a private boat from Stone town to Changuu Island or Prison Island where you will enjoy seeing the Giant tortoises and during your tour of the island you will also enjoy snorkeling. You will take a boat back from Changuu Island back to Stone town.
On this day you will also engage in a spice tour as you explore the plantations where you will see different exotic spices and also get to know the uses of the spices like cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg among others. After the spice tour, you will return to your hotel, relax and spend the night as above.
Day 19: Zanzibar Beach Experience
You will have a day to relax at the white sand beaches of Zanzibar island and enjoy views of the Indian ocean at the resort. Meals and an overnight stay as above.
Day 20: Departure
You will have breakfast at your hotel as you prepare for your transfer to the airport which will bring your safari to an end.
