This 12 Days Tanzania Uganda Safari gives you the opportunity to combine wildlife viewing, chimpanzee trekking and gorilla trekking in the top tourist destinations in Tanzania and Uganda. Start your safari in Arusha or Moshi in Tanzania from where you will transfer to Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive then proceed to Serengeti National Park and Lake Manyara National Park before heading back to Arusha. You will then fly to Entebbe International Airport in Uganda from where you will drive to Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking and bird watching in Bigodi Swamp. You will then drive to Bwindi Forest National Park for gorilla trekking and head back to Kampala/ Entebbe for drop-off.

Detailed Itinerary for 12 Days Tanzania Uganda Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha/Moshi
Depending on your arrival time in Arusha/Moshi, you will find a representative from Explore Rwanda Tours waiting for you upon your arrival. You will be briefed and then transferred to your hotel for check-in and later dinner.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Drive
Breakfast will be served at your lodge as you prepare for your transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area. You will engage in a game drive and also search for various wildlife species such as elephants, rhinos, buffalos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, wildebeests, zebras as well as flamingos along the shores of Lake Magadi. As you enjoy the beautiful scenery of Ngorongoro, your guide will drive you to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Drive to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast at your lodge, your guide will drive you to Serengeti national park which is also located in the northern part of Tanzania. You will enjoy searching wildlife species such as the big 5 (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos) during your safari in the national park. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4 and 5: Full day in Serengeti National Park
You will start your day with breakfast at your lodge in Serengeti National Park as you prepare for your morning game drive. You will also enjoy seeing a variety of wildlife species which are very active during the morning and can be seen grazing around the national park.
After your morning game drive, you will have lunch and later engage in another game drive and enjoy looking out for wildlife species grazing in the open savannah of Serengeti national park like elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, impalas, gazelles, buffalos, elands, antelopes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos among others. You will have dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 6: Drive to Lake Manyara National Park, Walking Safari
You will have breakfast at your lodge and your guide will drive you to Lake Manyara national park. Lake Manyara national park is known for its tree-climbing lions. You will also enjoy views of the rift valley escarpment during your safari in the national park.
You will have your lunch and then head out for a guided walking safari for an opportunity to see the wild game up front. Get up close with nature, animals and follow on foot the wild animals. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Transfer to Arusha, Fly to Uganda
Your breakfast will be served at your lodge and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Uganda. Upon your arrival at the airport, you shall transfer to the hotel. Check in, relax as you wait for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 8: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Early morning after breakfast, depart the lodge Proceed for your long journey to Kibale Forest National Park. This Park is home to almost 13 primate species. These include red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey and many more. You will have lunch in Kagadi. Proceed with the journey to the Kibale forest. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Swamp Walk
After breakfast, you will set out for chimp tracking within the Kibale Forest. During your search, expect to see a lot of primate species like chimpanzees, monkeys, and other animals like the forest elephants, bush pig and duiker, warthogs, reptiles, and amphibians as well as a colorful variety of butterflies. Return to the Lodge for lunch.
After lunch, go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp area and look out for most of the water-loving bird species. The forest /Park has almost 335 species of birds and therefore a good place for birders. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 10: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will set out for the game drive in the Ishasha area and expect to see the rare tree-climbing lions. The lions can be seen upon the fig trees. However, it’s not a guarantee that the lions will be seen.
Sometimes it depends on the luck and time of reaching the area. You will have lunch in the Ishasha sector and after you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in preparation for your next day Gorilla trek. Dinner and overnight stay at your selected lodge.
Day 11: Gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the UWA officials, set off for the gorilla tracking. This is a once lifetime experience and unforgettable adventure. The ranger guides will lead you into the thick forest and start your search for the endangered Mountain Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about one hour.
The activity can take 2 -7 hours since the gorillas move up and down. This is an awesome and exciting moment where you will be able to see other types of the primates such as monkeys, birds, and more. Return for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 12: Departure to Kampala
After breakfast at the lodge, drive back to Kampala/Entebbe and be dropped off at the airport or hotel of stay, bringing you safari to an end.
