This 12 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Masai Mara and Amboseli Safari takes you on a remarkable journey as you explore Rwanda and Kenya. During this 12 Days Rwanda and Kenya combined safari gives you a chance to track mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda; and then fly to Kenya where you will be visiting Masai Mara National Reserve and Amboseli National Park.

Detailed Itinerary for 12 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Masai Mara and Amboseli Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Depending on when your flight arrives in Kigali, your driver guide will be waiting for you upon your arrival at the airport. After a brief meet and greet session, you will drive to your hotel, check-in and have dinner. In case your flight arrives in Kigali during the morning hours, you can do a brief tour of Kigali city.
Day 2: City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park- Visit Ibyi’wacu Village
Have your breakfast in the morning and meet with your driver guide. You will then head out for a short tour of Kigali City where you will visit Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Inema Arts Centre, and Caplaki Craft Village. Have lunch and then drive to Volcanoes National Park where you will Ibyi’wacu village which is also known as the Gorilla Guardians’ village. Here, you will visit the former King’s Palace and even dress in traditional attire. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla Trek and Transfer Back to Kigali
Wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast. You will then drive to the park for your briefing at 7am. After you have been allocated a group, you will embark on your hike to the forest in search for a gorilla family accompanied by park guides and rangers. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be given an hour to spend with the gorillas. Have your packed lunch and then head back to base where you will find your driver guide waiting for you. Drive back to Kigali where you will check in at your hotel and have dinner.
Day 4: Fly to Nairobi (at your own cost)
Wake up and have breakfast at leisure from your lodge. You will be dropped off at Kigali international airport in time to check-in for your flight to Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. Upon, your arrival in Nairobi, your driver guide will take you to your hotel where you will check-in and rest. In case your flight lands in Nairobi early, you can do an optional tour of Nairobi city where you can visit the Giraffe Centre, craft market, and elephant orphan among others. You will spend the rest of your evening at leisure with dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Masai Mara for a Game Drive
On the fifth Day of your 12 days Rwanda Gorilla Trek, Masai Mara and Amboseli Safari, you will have breakfast and drive to Masai Mara National Reserve with a stopover lunch enroute. Upon your arrival in the park, check-in at your lodge and then head out for an afternoon game drive in the park. Later retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6&7: Full day adventure in Masai Mara National Reserve
Full day in Masai Mara National Reserve: After having breakfast at your lodge on the sixth and seventh day of your 12 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Masai Mara & Amboseli Wildlife safari, you will prepare for a full day game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve where you will see a variety of wildlife species which are very active and can be easily seen at this time of day such as wildebeests, zebras, elephants, antelopes, buffalos, rhinos, lions, leopards among others. You will have lunch at your lodge after the morning game drive in case you don’t wish to have a picnic lunch and later on after lunch, you will have another game drive as you look for other wildlife and bird species that thrill with in Masai Mara National Reserve.
Day 8: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Visit to Maasai Bomas
Wake up early in the morning for a guided game drive in the park. Morning game drives in Mara are simply the best especially if you are looking to watch animals leave their dens and head out to look for food. Look out for a variety of wildlife animals such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffalos, and zebras among others. You will also get enjoy your bush breakfast as you watch the sunrise over the horizon in Masai Mara. Later head back to your lodge to rest and have lunch.
After lunch, you will drive out for a community tour where you will be visiting the Maasai Bomas. Get an opportunity to interact with the friendly locals and learn more about the interesting Maasai culture, as well as take part in their interesting traditional dance and singing performances. Later return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay same as previous night.
Day 9: Drive to Amboseli national park (Approximately 6-7 hours’ drive)
Masai Mara – Amboseli National Park: You will have breakfast early in the morning on day 9 of 11 Days Bwindi Gorillas, Masai Mara & Amboseli wildlife safari and then check out of your lodge in Masai Mara national reserve and after this you will have a morning game viewing experience in the reserve to see the wildlife species which are active during the morning and can easily be seen as you continue your drive to Amboseli national park.
You will have a stop in Naivasha for lunch and later you will continue your journey to Amboseli National Park where you will check in at your lodge. You will have an evening guided nature walk to have a close experience with your surroundings in the national park and to enjoy views of the snowcapped Mt Kilimanjaro. You will return to your lodge after your nature walk to have your dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 10 and 11: Full day in Amboseli national park
Full day excursion in Amboseli: On day 10 and 11 of 12 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Masai Mara & Amboseli wildlife safari, your wildlife viewing experience in Amboseli National Park will begin with breakfast at your lodge and then you will proceed for a morning game viewing experience and to enjoy photography in the savannah plains of the national park which is home to herds of elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, antelopes, zebras, antelopes, lions, leopards among others as well as different bird species.
You will return to your lodge for lunch and later in the evening, you will have another game-viewing experience to search for wildlife species and to enjoy the sunset after which you will be driven back to your lodge for your dinner and to spend the night at your lodge.
Day 12: Departures (5-6 hour’s drive)
Depart to Nairobi: You will have breakfast on the last day of your 12 Days Rwanda Gorillas, Masai Mara & Amboseli wildlife safari, then continue for your morning game drive in the park during which you will see different wildlife and bird species. Your guide will drive you to Nairobi where you will be dropped off at your preferred location which will be the end of your safari.
