Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days Kenya Big Five Safari.
Day 1: Pickup from Nairobi and Transfer to Samburu National Reserve
You will leave Nairobi at 7:00 a.m. and drive north for approximately 310 kilometers. This will be a lovely tour through the tea, coffee, and sisal estates. There will be an en-route stop to see Mount Kenya and its snow-capped summits.
Your journey will take you across the semi-arid county of Samburu after crossing the equator. You will have your first game drive en way to your lodge/camp for check-in and lunch. Another game drive is scheduled during the afternoon. You will return to camp after the African sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Full Day Game Viewing in Samburu National Reserve
You’ll start with breakfast and then spend the rest of the day watching animals. The Samburu region is home to rare animals like as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy zebra, Beisa Oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk, which are exclusively found here. You’ll also notice its well-known bigger wildlife, like as elephants, lions, and leopards. You will have a picnic lunch before returning to the camp to unwind in the afternoon/evening. Your game drives will take place along the Ewaso Nyiro River, which is home to the majority of wild species.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park
You will have a fantastic breakfast in the morning before leaving your Lodge. You will take a journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. Upon arrival, you will check into your Lodge, eat a late lunch, and unwind from the long trip.
After that, you will go on a thrilling afternoon game drive. The birdlife here is world-renowned, with over 400 species documented, including white pelicans, plovers, egrets, and marabou storks. It’s also one of the few areas in Africa where you may view white and black rhinos, as well as the rare Rothschild giraffe.
Later in the evening retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, you will check out and take en route game drives via Lake Nakuru National Park before departing for the Masai Mara. The travel from Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara takes around 4-5 hours. You will arrive to your designated lodge or camp in time for lunch and check-in. After lunch and leisure, you will start out on an afternoon wildlife drive till the African sunset.
Later in the evening, return back to your lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Full Day Game Drive in Mara
You will eat breakfast before leaving for a full-day game drive, returning in the evening. When you leave in the morning, your driver/guide will make sure you have a picnic lunch prepared. They will find you a picturesque area to have your dinner against the backdrop of the tranquil African savannah.
The enormous Masai Mara is home to an abundance of animals, and if you bring your camera, you’ll be spoiled for choice. It gets hot out here, so remain hydrated throughout the day! You will almost certainly see all of Africa’s Big Five plus at least one of the big cat species on the hunt!
Later, you will return to your lodge/camp in the evening for an organized bush nature walk. An experienced and qualified guide will lead you on relaxing, guided walks through a wildlife conservation area. You’ll be able to observe the animals and plants of the region up close and learn about their habits and mannerisms.

Day 6: Visit Masai Bomas and Transfer Back to Nairobi.
After a leisurely breakfast and check-out, the guide will transport you to Maasai village, where you may mingle with the locals and purchase gifts. You will then enjoy the road drive to Nairobi, including lunch in Narok. You should arrive in Nairobi at approximately 4:00 p.m. Drop off at your hotel or get a free ride to the airport for your trip home.
