Trip description
Day 1: Kigali city tour and transfer to Akagera national park
Your driver guide will be waiting outside your hotel as soon as you receive your negative Covid-19 test results back. You will set out for a Kigali city tour visiting the Kigali Genocide memorial grounds for the history of the 1994 events in the country. After, connect to the Kimironko local market for a chance to interact with the local community and buy some local produce. You will have lunch and set out to your 2 hour transfer to Akagera national park.
Arrive and check into your hotel in time to catch the sunset in the wild. Dinner will be served later and you will spend your first night in the park.

Day 2: Day game drive and afternoon boat trip on Lake Ihema.
Wake up early enough to grab some breakfast and connect into the park for your morning game drive. Get a chance to see the wildlife of Rwanda in Akagera national park. Drive for about 5 hours meeting the giraffes, elephants, rhinos, lions and the smaller game like the antelopes.
You will drive back to your hotel for lunch and cool off. Later in the afternoon set out to Lake Ihema for your boat experience. The bird life that you will be able to spot on this boat trip is overwhelming so ensure to carry your binoculars. Enjoy the views of the aquatic life like the crocodiles and hippos and after set out back to your hotel to wait for dinner to be served and spend your second night in the park.
Day 3: Community cultural experience and evening game drive.
Right after having breakfast, you with your driver guide will drive to the park reception for your park guide for your half day experience. Get to know more of the Rwandan culture and also take part in some of the activities like the cultural dances and the cooking sessions.
You will drive back to the hotel for lunch and wait for the sun to cool down and set out for your evening game drive on the other side of the park for a chance with the wildlife you may have missed or a second chance with the ones you may have already seen. Get back to your hotel at around 9 pm in time for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Drive back to Kigali
Wake up at leisure and get ready to exit the park. Have breakfast and check out of the hotel and drive towards the park gate with a chance of seeing some animals. You will drive back to Kigali where you will be dropped off as you will advise. You may take on the city tour on this day if you did not have time on the first day.
