2 Days Tchegera Island: This is a short refreshing tour that you can add at the end of your safari or opt to take it on as an individual activity as you may wish. Tchegera island is a great destination for leisure and relax on the black sandy beach line. This is a daily package that can be booked any day of the week. It is booked from and arranged by the Virunga national park.

Trip Description

Day 1: Transfer to Tchegera island retreat

Tchegera island can be accessed by boat and the boat that is scheduled to go to the island is found at the Kituku port. You will connect with your driver-guide in Goma and drive to the Kituku port where you will board a boat to Tchegera via Lake Kivu one of the highlights of this 2 day trip. You will enjoy the 1 hour transfer arriving at the island in time for lunch. Check into you room, refresh and have lunch.

After lunch you may opt to take a nature walk at the island or just relax at the shores as you do some birding and observe some water animals as you watch the sunset. Get back to the retreat before it gets dark and wait for dinner to be served. You will spend the night at the Tchegera Island retreat.

Day 2: Transfer back to Goma

Wake up at leisure and take breakfast and enjoy the last moments at the island. You may do some kayaking or paddle boarding for most of the morning and after connect back to the retreat to have a BBQ lunch shortly before you check out of the hotel to get back to Goma. The boat to transport you back to Kituku port will be set and waiting to transfer you back to land and off the Island where your driver guide will be waiting to drive you back to your drop off location as you will advise. You may opt to either be dropped off in Goma or drive further to Kigali Rwanda for drop off.
