Gorilla Trekking Permit in Uganda is a card documentation offered by the Uganda Wildlife Authority to a traveler to show that one has paid for the gorilla trekking activity. Gorilla trekking in Uganda can be carried out in two national park Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where they will see the different Uganda gorilla families in the park. Gorilla trekking in Uganda is the most rewarding activity that can be carried out in the country because you will get to see half of the remaining endangered mountain gorilla species in the different national parks in the country.
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be carried out in the different sectors of the park namely Rushaga, Nkuringo, Ruhija, and Buhoma where you can see the different gorilla families in the park where they will see a number of interesting gorilla families like Nkuringo gorilla family, Nshongi gorilla family, kahungye gorilla family, Bweza gorilla family among other interesting gorilla families in the park. Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park, where you can see the Nyakagezi gorilla family and Hirwa gorilla family which migrated from Volcanoes National Park along the slopes of the different Virunga Mountains like Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount sabyinyo.
WHERE TO GET A GORILLA TREKKING PERMIT IN UGANDA
Gorilla trekking permit in Uganda can be obtained from a trusted tour company like Explore Rwanda tour or from the Uganda wildlife authority at only a fee of 600USD but on July 1st, 2020 the price for a gorilla trekking permit in Uganda will increase to 700USD. It should be noted that the tourists should be noted that for every gorilla family in the park only a group of eight people will visit the family for a day, therefore, you should book for your permits in advance in order not to miss out on gorilla trekking in Uganda.
INCLUSIONS OF A GORILLA TREKKING PERMIT IN UGANDA
A guide: A gorilla trekking permit in Uganda will give you the opportunity to have a knowledgeable guide who will take you through your entire gorilla trekking activity in the different parks; he will offer all the relevant information concerning the different gorilla families in the park and will ensure that you have an amazing time in the park and in case of any questions concerning the gorillas, the guide will offer all the relevant information concerning the gorillas and their different facts like their life span, their gestation period, their feeding patterns, their diet among other features of the primates which you will get to know when you participate on gorilla trekking.
A Ranger: The ranger will enable you to have a safe activity during your hiking adventure in the park to access the different gorilla families in the parks. An armed ranger will accompany you during your activity to avoid being attacked by any wild animals like the bushbucks, forest elephants among other animal species in the park that can be a threat to human presence while in the park.
Park fees: The gorilla trekking permit will also allow you to access the different national parks where you are going to participate in the gorilla trekking activity without paying the park entrance fees because of the gorilla trekking permit caters for the park entrance fees.
One hour with the primates: With the gorilla trekking permit in Uganda, you will get the chance to spend one hour with the gorilla family that you have tracked in the park. During gorilla trekking, you will get to spend one hour with the gorillas where you will get the opportunity to know about the gorilla families and also take a number of memorable pictures while in the presence of the gorilla family in the park.
EXCLUSIONS OF A GORILLA TREKKING PERMIT
Participation in other activities
Although you have obtained a gorilla trekking permit in Uganda at a fee of 600USD, you will have to pay for a number of other activities that you would like to participate in while in Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park because the permit only caters for gorilla trekking.
Lunch
A gorilla trekking permit will not cater for your lunch while in the park therefore if you are interested in taking part in gorilla trekking in Uganda because it can take 6- 8 hours, they should carry packed lunch in order not to feel hungry while in the park during gorilla trekking because the activity can be tiresome.
Porter
Although a gorilla trekking permit is more expensive than any other permit for the different activities in Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga National Park, it does guarantee the fact that you will not have access to the porters in the park without paying for them. Some tourists with heavy luggage and equipment like cameras for gorilla filming or slow tourists will need the help of the porters to help them with the luggage and also help them catch up with other members tracking the gorillas as they carry out the Virunga mountains hike to get to the different gorilla families and to do this, they have to hire porters that are always to offer their services at a small fee.
